Moshi, Tanzania Posted on March 18th, 2015 by

RuthWe arrived at the Uhuru Lutheran Hostel just as the induction ceremony of a new Bishop was concluding. Hundreds of people had come from all over Tanzania, and various parts of the world for this event. Out of the masses, a little lady, with perfect English, came forward and asked us where we were from. When we answered, ‘Minnesota in the United States’, she lit up, “Oh! I know Minnesota! I went to school there!”   We soon learned that Ruth Mshagulma Shekalaghe graduated from Gustavus in 1962.  Se hugged every student and held as many hands as she could, so happy to see Gustavus students.  She invited our group of 20 to her house for tea, where we exchanged Gustavus student stories, sang a few songs with her, and closed with the Gustie Rouser, which was new to her.
