Dr Deanna Mason ’96 was awarded the 2013 Distinguished Alumni Award for her work as a parish nurse and the founding member of a multi-disciplinary free clinic opened at Our Lady of Mercy Parish in Madrid, Spain. The clinic provides free health care to illegal immigrants currently barred from the public health care system due to the severe economic crisis in Spain. She is also a health services provider to English-speaking university campuses.
She received her Masters degree in nursing as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner from the College of St. Catherine in 2001 and her Ph.D. in nursing from the University of North Dakota in 2010.
Deanna is married and has two children. She enjoys traveling with her husband and family, which has been immensely valuable to living and working in a foreign culture.
