Jenna Mortel is a senior nursing student and the Director of Communications for the Minnesota Student Nurses’ Association (MSNA). She has been working hard on this year’s MSNA Annual Convention which will be held at St. Olaf College, Northfield , MN on Sunday, Feb. 25 from 8:30 -4:00 pm.
This year’s theme is “Nursing: A Glimpse into the Future”. The keynote speaker is Rebecca Patton DNP, who is the immediate past President of the ANA. This year, there will be a new grad panel featuring two Gustie grads: Johnna Bottila (Pediatric RN at Children’s St. Paul) and Kristine Rogers (OB RN at Methodist), along with other new grad RNs as well from the ER, CICU, and Cardio PCU. There will also be hospital representatives, graduate degree programs, NCLEX Prep systems and vendors from around Minnesota, present at the convention and they will have the opportunity to meet/talk with students.
Jenna has encouraged sophomores and juniors to give consideration to running for a position on the MSNA board. Gustavus has been represented on the MSNA Board for the past 4-5 years and Jenna would like to keep this connection between Gustavus Nursing and the MSNA Board going. She states “Along with being a great leadership opportunity, this is a great opportunity to connect with other nursing majors not only from Minnesota, but also from around the country. MSNA Board members have the opportunity to get a FREE trip to the NSNA Annual Convention in Nashville, TN.”
