J-Term on National Healthcare in Sweden Posted on February 15th, 2007 by

In 2007, Nursing and Scandinavian Studies offered a J-term in Sweden to look at National Healthcare. The class visited institutions of health care in Göteborg, Jönköping, and Umeå. Students interviewed Swedes across the country about their health care, from the southwestern city of Göteborg, to areas above the Arctic Circle. The same interviews were conducted by the students in the USA prior to leaving for Sweden. Results of the study are summarized in the attachment. Students traveled by air, bus, train, and dogsled. The experience included staying in the Ice Hotel at Jukkasjärve and listening to a Sami musician play Joyk music in a theatre completely made out of ice. This J-term will be offered again in the near future.
