The Nursing Department’s Distinguished Alumni Award was established in 2008 to honor graduates who have made significant contributions to nursing.
Rebecca Linn Pyle (1976) received the Distinguished Nursing Alumni award from the Gustavus Adolphus College Nursing department in 2009. Becky Pyle is the Director of Nursing and Professional Standards for Ambulatory Services at the University of Colorado Hospital. Prior to joining the University of Colorado Becky worked at Kaiser Permanente in Denver for twenty-four years. During that time she held a variety of positions: Regional Nursing Practice Leader, Medical Office Administrator, Nurse Manager, and staff nurse. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Gustavus Adolphus College and a Master’s in Nursing Administration from the University of Colorado.
Becky Pyle is Past President of AAACN, the American Academy of Ambulatory Care Nursing and currently serves as Editor of Viewpoint, the official publication of AAACN. Becky is a frequent presenter on topics of Evidence-Based Nursing Practice, Guideline Development and Implementation, Integration of Nursing Guidelines into the Electronic Medical Record, Leading Change, and Writing for Publication. She has served as an international ambulatory nursing practice consultant in Ukraine.
Ms. Pyle joined the Gustavus Adolphus College nursing department faculty at the 2009 Pinning Ceremony for the Nursing Class of 2009. She received her award and was a speaker for the evening’s event.
